Management Board

The role of the Sustainable Futures Management Board is to provide leadership to the University’s multidisciplinary Sustainable Futures activity, maintaining an overview of the University’s current capabilities in the broad fields encompassed by Sustainable Futures and identifying actual and potential areas of excellence.

Key objectives

The Sustainable Futures  Management Board is responsible for:

  • Raising the profile of Sustainable Futures within the wider University community, bringing researchers from different disciplines together into multidisciplinary communities;
  • Identifying opportunities to build critical mass, maintaining an overview of the current external landscape in terms of research and funding opportunities;
  • Building the profile of Sustainable Futures, encouraging and strengthening links with external stakeholders;
  • Encouraging the community to increase the impact of the University’s Sustainable Futures work on the world of practice; including in the conduct of research and broader alignment with our Social Responsibility Strategic objectives to promote Sustainability in the University’s institutional organisational practices
  • Encouraging curriculum development which draws on the University’s research strengths in this area

Membership 

The Board is chaired by Professor Colette Fagen, Vice-President for Research and is composed of the Sustainable Futures Director, the Associate Vice-President for Research, the leadership of key UoM Institutes, Challenge Leads, Academic Lead for Social Responsibility, Head of Environmental Sustainability, and Sarah Barton, Strategy and Operations Manager.
